Hello Hello!!

It's been a while (again)! Today I have some updates and a little sneak peak on what I'm working on for my Grannie's Tale shop.

I'm surprised by how many things could happened in one month. The end of the year always flew by so fast! Anyway, I finally got to fill out Grannie's Tale's About page, in which you can check out by clicking here

Also, I've finished illustrating another Children's book on the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. (This is one of my favourite stories!) I cannot post any image right now due to the Copyright issue, but hopefully I'll be able to post a Blog about it soon once it's already published!

For Grannie's Tale shop update, I've been working on this;

Can you tell what is it? :)

I've been having so much fun working on this and it should be done soon. Stay tuned!!

Grannie's Tale | Shop Opening!

Today is such a Big day for me! I finally had my shop on etsy, after I've been working on it for quite a while. It has been a lot of work in preparing everything and making sure that the products are high quality. I've been spending time testing on papers, inks, printers and many other things, but it's surely worth it!

Well, I know this is not going to be an easy task or a success over night (or weeks or months..). It'll probably take years and require a lot of time, effort and of course.. patience!

Anyway, I'm sure that doing what you love is the best thing you can ever do. So, my friend, if you are  now on the same path of chasing your dreams, or perhaps planning to.. Let's get on this road together!!!

in the mean time, let's see some photos that I took for the shop :)

30 Days 30 Sketches!!

"You can't do sketches enough. Sketch everything and keep your curiosity fresh." - John Singer Sargent.

You can't sketch enough. This is so true! It's quite strange how I sketch less and less since I work on art more and more. I started to think too much before dragging the pencil around on the paper.

Sometimes you might need to think less and let your hand move on the paper with your instinct.

I'm hoping this "30 Days 30 Sketches" will let me have more fun with sketching in this month!

Little Red Riding Hood

Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf pretending to be her grandma.

One of the All-time favourite fairytales that (most of) the girls should have heard about is "Little Red Riding Hood." or "Little Red Cap", written by Charles Perrault in late 1600s. What I like most about the story is how she couldn't tell that it's not her Grandma on the bed, but the Wolf. Even when she saw the teeth and the nose. I thought it was hilarious when I first hear it. Yes, it looks kinda... you know not very smart, but that's why it's cute and funny.

So, I captured this scene with Watercolour on a smooth surface (watercolour) paper, with a little touch of Coloured pencils :)

My first Instagram Give away!

Yay! Finally I did my first instagram give away!

I noticed that I had 495 followers on instagram, and I though it should be fun and it's a good opportunity to do a give away! I really wanna thank all the people who has followed my work, support me with their likes and comments that give me energy and inspired me to keep on painting!

So, I did this painting..

My Art approached is Watercolor and
a little bit of Water soluble colored pencils.

Final Art Print!

I honestly wish I could give it to all 500 people who has follow me on instagram to let them know how much I wanna say "Thank you" for their support! Unfortunately, I couldn't afford that :p

Anyway, I surely will do more give away in the future!

Puss in Boots!

It's been a few days of illustrating this little Puss in a scene when Puss went to the King and the Princess and told them that his master was drowning.

This is my personal project. Created for practicing and experimenting with pencil colors.
I haven't used pencil colors since I was in school!

Anyway, I've found that using pencil colors is actually help me play with colors easier and also kind of increase the illustration's saturations.. if that make sense :p

There's one thing I noticed is that when I look at this illustration. It first take my eye to the King and the Princess instead of Puss, because the contrast is higher in that area. Need to be more careful next time!

Anyway, here it is!

The second one is Working with Color ; Taught by Will Terry, and Amazing Children's book illustrator who's been in the industry for 20-30 years.
http://www.willterry.com/

The Class was AWESOME and I can't thank them enough for it.

Anyway, after the lessons, SVS has offer a contest, in which we have to paint an illustration drawn by Jake Parker, and I wasn't even hesitate to join the fun!

Here's my step-by-step painting.

Since I'm gonna go for 'traditional painting', I have to trace the drawing on my paper first!

After painting water all over the paper, paint a few color for the background.

Then, after the paint is dried, start painting on details..

and more details...

...and more...

...and more...

...and done!
